This 70 gallon rain barrel is made of FSC Certified Canadian Spruce that has been torrefied* - a process that extends the life of the wood. This is a high quality, attractive way to capture the rain. It comes with an adaptor kit that easily attaches to your standard rectangular rain gutter downspout so the run off goes directly to the rain barrel. Inside the barrel is a heavy duty liner to capture the water and the barrel is a closed unit so there is no outside contamination from dirt or bugs. The solid brass tap at the bottom gives easy access to your captured water supply.Size: 23" x 23" x 40" high Warranty: 2 years against manufacturers defect.*Torrefaction of wood is a safe, non-chemical thermal preservation method where the wood is subjected to a temperature of 200-300 degrees at near atmospheric pressure in the absence of oxygen. Under these conditions, the bio mass partially decomposes, with losses of hydrogen and oxygen greater than the loss of carbon. The nature of the wood is changed with the destruction of OH-groups and the hygroscopic nature of the wood is partially lost. This means that the wood has a very low uptake of moisture while in use and biological degradation is drastically slowed. The result is a natural preseravtion without chemical treatment. The end product is lighter and easier to handle, but the natural wood strength is retained.
