Some years ago the Vermont Garden Way Living Center retail outlet closed its doors as Garden Way and changed its focus to outdoor power equipment. With that came an end to their gardening products catalog, a valued resource for many gardeners, home canners and do-it-yourselfers.

In 1989, we became a Garden Way equipment dealer, and continued to get many requests from the old catalog: the Cider Press, Squeezo Strainer, and Garden Cart had long made Garden Way a trusted source for quality gardening and food preparation products. The phone calls were steady, we heard you. In January 1993 -- not a big gardening time here in Vermont -- we began researching the types of products formerly carried in the old Garden Way catalog.

By the spring of 1994, stacks of folders containing product information from all over America covered our desk. Our research revealed that many products in today's market are built to minimum standards, with the idea that the product will be disposed of and replaced when it wears out. We wanted to supply people with exactly the opposite, products finely crafted enough to pass on to one's children and carry the parts necessary to maintain these quality products.

In 1994 we published our first catalog and launched our mail order business. In 1999 we developed our website to provide customers with a more convenient way to order products and also provide tips on using some products as well as a forum to aid them in finding answers to questions about home and garden products or problems.
